At Arthur Road Dental Practice we believe that dental care should begin at an early age, since plaque will begin to form as soon as a child’s first tooth arrives. Parental brushing is essential for your child’s dental health, in addition to control of sweets, chocolate and sugary drinks. It is recommended to bring your child for a dental visit from the age of approximately two, ideally accompanied by Mum and Dad and any siblings. Family appointments are to be encouraged, making a young child feel included and helping to form the idea that a visit to the dentist is nothing to worry about.
The first appointment should be stress-free and a happy, fun visit, if anyone needs any treatment, we would usually make separate arrangements for this. Normal frequency of visits should be every six months. In addition to advice on fluoride toothpaste and mouthwash, our treatments for children include fluoride applications and fissure sealants where necessary.
